As lifelong South Dakotan’s, small towns are incredibly important to us. The stories of the people that created this wonderful area and the current residents that keep it thriving. The “Roots” of a community represent the history and culture of a place and its people. They provide a sense of identity and belonging that is unique and irreplaceable. To us food, family, and friendships are fundamental to our heritage and identity, as they reflect the customs, traditions, and history that bond us all together.
This building has deep “Roots” to Webster history when it was created in 1928 as the Fiksdal General Store and continued to be Fiksdal Furniture until 2022. “Roots” was created in this flagship hub of the Webster Mainstreet to honor that history and to provide a gathering place for this community and all its visitors for many years to come.
By celebrating our “Roots”, we can create a sense of community that can be passed down from generation to generation, ensuring that the unique identity of our hometowns thrive into the future and every visitor always feels at home.
